This session focuses on equipping new nurse leaders with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s long-term care environment. Participants will explore strategies to cultivate leadership capacity, strengthen communication, and create supportive structures that empower emerging leaders. The session will also highlight how effective nurse leadership contributes directly to staff retention and organizational stability.

Shelly Maffia is a highly accomplished and experienced professional in the long-term care setting. As a Registered Nurse and licensed Nursing Home Administrator, she brings a wealth of expertise to her work. Shelly's dedication to excellence is evident through her numerous certifications and memberships in industry organizations, including the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants, the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC), the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN), the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA).

Shelly's commitment to continual learning and improvement is exemplified by her AANAC's QAPI Certified  Professional (QCP) credential, her certification in healthcare compliance through the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA), her AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) designation, and her role as an AHIMA approved ICD-10 trainer. Additionally, she serves as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.
