Event Details
Overview: In recent years, CMS has updated its Critical Element Pathways (CEPs) to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of the survey process for nursing homes. However, many facilities are still unfamiliar with these updates or fail to use the CEPs effectively to ensure compliance. This educational session aims to bridge that gap by providing an in-depth, practical exploration of the latest updates to the CEPs and their critical role in regulatory compliance and quality care. This session will start with a comprehensive overview of the Critical Element Pathways, explaining their purpose and how they function within the survey process. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how the CEPs serve as a guide for surveyors when evaluating compliance in various aspects of care and facility
operations.
Cat will walk participants through the recent updates to the CEPs, providing detailed explanations of the changes and their implications. Attendees will learn about critical areas that have been revised. This session will explore how surveyors now approach investigations in these critical areas. Participants will gain insight into the types of documentation and evidence surveyors will look for during their visits. By understanding these changes, attendees will be better equipped to proactively address compliance issues and avoid citations.
