This hour will look at the field of palliative massage therapy, discuss the benefits of incorporating palliative-trained massage therapists into palliative care and interdisciplinary teams, and explore the idea that massage therapy is more than just rubbing.

Presenter: Laura Bryant-Earner, Service Director, Healwell
Laura Bryant-Earner is a licensed massage therapist and certified manual lymph drainage therapist. She is the Service Director for Healwell, a non- profit organization that partners with hospitals and other healthcare facilities to provide meaningfully integrated massage therapy and to conduct research about the feasibility and effect of massage therapy on people living with illness.
Laura is a member of Healwell’s curriculum development team and an instructor for their hospital-based massage therapy stewardships. As Service Director, Laura coordinates, supervises and provides care for Healwell’s massage programs in hospitals, medical facilities and local communities in northern Virginia, Washington D.C. and southern Maryland. She has more than 20 years of teaching experience, both as an English teacher and a hospital-based massage therapy instructor.
