Join us for session 3 of the series "Becoming Comfortable with Buprenorphine and MOUD" with Dr. Uthe.
In Session 3, we will once again reinforce essential principles in providing MOUD and chronic pain care as well as explore current research on buprenorphine use in other health conditions. We will also review new medications on the market for treating opioid dependence and/or chronic pain.
Objectives:
- Reinforce one or two of the basic principles essential in prescribing buprenorphine for MOUD and/or chronic pain.
- Be familiar with other uses of Buprenorphine being considered beyond MOUD or chronic pain.
- Review new medications on the market for substance use disorders and/or chronic pain beyond MOUD drugs.
Craig Uthe, MD is a board-certified family physician with the American Board of Family Medicine and a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.He is the Medical Director of Professional Well-Being at Sanford Health and the Chief Well-Being Officer for the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine.
For over twenty-five years, Dr. Uthe has been a medical advisor to the SD Health Professionals Assistance Program, an organization that provides management services to health care professionals with potentially impairing illnesses & addictions.
Dr. Uthe and his wife, Joyce, have three grown children and, more importantly, two grandsons, Luciano and Leonardo, who they enjoy spoiling upon every opportunity.
