Combating Multi-Drug-Resistant Organisms - Insights and Resources from the SD DOH HAI

This session will provide participants with an overview of the South Dakota Department of Health Healthcare-Associated Infections department. We will discuss concerning multi-drug-resistant organisms SD DOH is monitoring and review infection control resources that are available.

Presenter: Leah Bomesberger, MPH, BSN, RN, Infection Preventionist, SD DOH HAI Dept.

Leah has been a bedside nurse in critical care for 12 years. In 2019 she received her master’s in public health and defended her thesis on dialysis station disinfection practices. She currently works as an infection prevention consultant with the CDC Foundation for the state of South Dakota Health Department, Healthcare Associated Infection/Antibiotic Resistance program, and as a bedside nurse in the intensive care unit at Monument Health.
