Surgical and Anesthesia Services

This session will provide an overview of the regulatory requirements for the provision of surgical and anesthesia services in hospitals and critical access hospitals from minimum required policies and procedures to provider credentialing requirements to documentation issues. Non-compliance with the Condition of Surgical Services has been in the top three Condition Level deficiencies cited in South Dakota for both hospitals and critical access hospitals in the last three years.

• Explain differences in CMS requirements for history and physical examinations between hospitals and critical access hospitals
